Last week, Surat, India, experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall that caused widespread flooding across the city. Many homes were submerged, and countless families lost their belongings and essential household items.
As soon as Faiz Welfare Aid learned of the situation, our volunteers immediately began distributing food packets and other essential supplies to affected families, helping to provide relief during this difficult time.
During the flooding, a remarkable rescue operation also took place. A 60-year-old man, Mr Abdul Muntaqim, became trapped in his auto rickshaw while attempting to cross a bridge that had been overwhelmed by floodwaters. Surrounded by rising water and unable to escape, he faced a life-threatening situation.
When Faiz Welfare Aid volunteers were informed, they quickly assembled a rescue team, contacted the fire brigade and worked tirelessly for 14 hours to bring him to safety. By the grace of Allah, Mr. Abdul Muntaqim was successfully rescued and has now returned home safely.
After the rescue, our volunteers visited him, presented him with cash, gifts and continued to support him in every way they could.
We are deeply grateful to all the volunteers and emergency personnel whose dedication, compassion and hard work brought comfort and hope to those affected by the floods.
